Capitol Hwy.
Portland, Oregon 97219

Tickets $12 advance from brownpapertickets.com or $15 at the door
The first three Songwriter Circles were sellouts. Cal Scott, Richard Moore and their guest artists were a delightful surprise not only to their audience, but to each other as well. So we’re going to build on that success, this time with special guest Kathryn Claire, Monday, February 6 at 7:00pm.

Classically trained on the violin, Kathryn Claire added the guitar to her instrumental arsenal and employs both as a foundation for her compelling voice and intriguing songs. She’s been busy performing around the Northwest, and the Far East (Japan) with multi-instrumentalist Hanz Araki, but we shoehorned this show into her schedule to share her talents with the Songwriter Circle audience.

Tickets are $12 in advance from brownpapertickets.com or $15 at the door. The first three shows were sellouts, so jump on it soon.

More information from Matt Miner at 503-484-8196 or mattminermusic@gmail.com.
Capitol Hwy

Tickets $10 from brownpapertickets.com or $12 at the door

The first two Songwriter Circles were sellouts. Cal Scott, Richard Moore and their guest artists were a delightful surprise not only to their audience, but to each other as well. So we’re going to build on that success, this time on the west side at O’Connor’s in Multnomah Village, with special guest Ashleigh Flynn, Monday, December 5 at 7:00pm.

Ashleigh Flynn hails from Kentucky where she grew up foot stomping along the Ohio River as the steamboats and barges made their way to the muddy Mississippi. A songwriter of exceptional emotional depth and intelligence, Flynn is also an electrifying performer.

According to one of her songwriting heroes, Nanci Griffith, "Ashleigh represents the next generation of true songwriters. Her songs are wonderful and her voice is like an angel. She rules!" Ashleigh makes her home here in Portland, but tours all over the country and elsewhere, and has a stack of songwriting awards from festivals coast-to-coast. All I know is that her music just makes me smile.
http://www.ashleighflynn.net/

The usual suspects bookending Ashleigh will be Cal Scott, jack-of-many-genres who writes and performs with The Trail Band and Kevin Burke, and the word-witty and tune-wise Richard Moore, likely to share a few more scenes from “Rain,” his musical-in-the-works about Portland. Cal and Richard will also debut a song they promised to write based on suggestions from the audience at the last show.

Tickets are $10 each, from brownpapertickets.com or $12 at the door. The first two shows were sellouts, so jump on it soon.

More information from Matt Miner at 503-484-8196 or mattminermusic@gmail.com.

Series sponsored by our friends at Paperjam Press, paperjampress.me.

Capitol Hwy

August’s Songwriter Circle was a smash hit with the sellout crowd at the Alberta Street Pub. Cal Scott, Richard Moore and special guest Chris Kokesh got a standing ovation and encore, a rare occurrence at this kind of show. So we’re going to build on that success, this time on the west side at O’Connor’s in Multnomah Village, with special guest Beth Wood,Monday, October 3 at 7:00pm.

Beth stood out among the many singer-songwriters at last year’sSisters Folk Festival as a riveting presence on stage, whether solo or collaborating with her musical peers. She’s won a string of festival songwriting competitions, including the prestigious Kerrville, Texas contest in 2005. Here are a couple of quotes from around the country:

“A superb singer/songwriter whose versatility discourages labeling.” —Fort Worth Star-Telegram

“Beth Wood is a musical triple-threat — a thoughtful songwriter and talented multi-instrumentalist with a supple, soulful voice.” — Washington Post

Beth, originally from Lubbock, Texas, but settled into Eugene, doesn’t spend much time in Oregon. Between now and the end of the year she’ll play stages from Sisters to Newtown, PA, and then in February sets sail on a Caribbean musical cruise with the likes of Lyle Lovett, Lucinda Williamsand John Prine. http://www.bethwoodmusic.com/

The usual suspects bookending Beth will be Cal Scott, jack-of-many-genres who writes and performs with The Trail Band and Kevin Burke, and the word-witty and tunewise Richard Moore, likely to share a few more scenes from “Rain,” his musical-in-the-works about Portland. We heard a compressed version of Act 1 last month...well there's more. It continues to “Rain” in Richard's head and the characters are beginning to populate his dreams with songs and naughty euphemisms. Come on down and get a taste of Act 2.

Tickets are $10 each, from brownpapertickets.com or at the door. We ran out of seats at the last show, so don’t think too long on this one.

More information from Matt Miner at 503-484-8196 or mattminermusic@gmail.com.

And somewhere in the midst of all that he finds time to write some pretty wonderful songs.
http://www.calscottmusic.com/Portfolio/Home.html

Richard Moore writes funny songs that can make you cry, and sad songs that can make you smile. You know him from his day job, too, as the voice of dozens of TV and radio commercials from Pacific Power to Goodwill Industries, but his passion is sharing his original songs with an intimate audience. He’s also working on a stage musical about Portland, and is likely to offer a sneak preview of some of the songs from Rain! The Musical.http://mooredick.com/

Tickets for this show are $10 each, from http://www.brownpapertickets.com/, by check to Matt Miner Presents, 2335 N.E. 41st Ave, Portland 97212, or at the door. Please help us give the series a strong kickoff, and let us know who you’d like to see join Cal and Richard in future shows.

Tickets for this show will be $10 each through http://www.brownpapertickets.com.
